The Philippines Opens Doors to Remote Workers With Digital Nomad Visa
Executive Order No. 86 (2025) establishes the Digital Nomad Visa (DNV), allowing qualified foreign remote workers to enter and stay in the Philippines for up to one year, renewable once. The program seeks to support tourism, economic growth, and digital innovation while aligning with the Philippine Development Plan 2023–2028.
The Department of Foreign Affairs will issue the visa, with the Bureau of Immigration assisting in security clearances. Applicants must be at least 18, work remotely using digital technologies, earn income exclusively from foreign employers or clients, hold valid health insurance, have no criminal record, and be nationals of countries offering reciprocal DNVs to Filipinos.
DNV holders receive multiple-entry privileges but may not engage in local employment. The DFA may revoke the visa for fraud, misrepresentation, or violations of immigration rules. The EO directs key agencies including the DFA, DOJ, DOT, BI, and BIR to coordinate implementation, with a pilot rollout within 60 days and full guidelines issued within 30 days of effectivity. The Order took effect on May 5, 2025.
